The Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, on Thursday, swore in Senator Biodun Olujimi as the new Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District at the National Assembly.
This followed last week’s declaration of Olujimi, Minority Leader in the Eighth Senate, as the winner of the 2019 Senatorial election by the Kaduna Division of the Court of Appeal.
The court had nullified the election of Adeyeye, spokesman of the Senate and upheld the tribunal judgment declaring Olujim, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party as the winner at the 2019 National Assembly elections to represent Ekiti South.
Olujimi, garbed in a coffee-brown attire, was sworn-in, following an oath administered by the Clerk of Senate, Nelson Ayewoh, at exactly 10:40, immediately after the commencement of plenary.
Lawan, while congratulating Mrs. Olujimi, after being sworn-in, called for unity among all members of the upper chamber, noting her victory brings the number of Female Senators to eight in the upper chamber.
While urging all to remain focused “and do those things that will make our country great”, Lawan prayed that her return will bring additional productivity and stability to the Senate.
