NOVA Merchant Bank Limited, on Tuesday announced its audited full year 2022 financial results with an outstanding 93.7% growth in net profit on the back of a significant growth in both funded and non-funded income, resulting from the innovative and exceptional customer service offerings.
Notably, the Group continues to gain market share, a reflection of its steady penetration across key growth sectors, as reflected in the 30% growth in customer deposits. Asset quality remains exceptional, with Non-Performing Loan ratio of 0.2%, underscoring the best-in-class governance and management discipline in creating quality assets and ensuring effective risk management.
Specifically, Nova reported a N23.34bn gross earnings, a 37.01% year-on-year growth from N17.03bn in the 2021FY; fees and other income stood at N6.7bn, compared to N4.97bn in 2021FY, representing a 34.9% YoY growth; while group Profit Before Tax witnessed a 98.2% leap to N3.34bn. Profit After Tax for the period stood at N3.11bn, a 93.7% improvement, when compared to N1.61bn in 2021FY.
Other key indicators included Cost of risk, which remained modest at 0.14%, reinforcing outstanding asset quality; just as the balance sheet showed a 14.6% growth in total assets at N279.9bn, compared to N244.2bn in the previous year; while deposit base jumped 30% up to N152.01bn from N116.9bn. Shareholders’ Funds improved by 13.1% to N26.77bn, reflecting strong internal capital generation; Capital adequacy ratio increased to 23.24%, twice the minimum regulatory requirement, reinforcing the strength of the balance sheet and headroom for sustainable growth.
