The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) at the weekend published a list of 60 approved international money transfer operators, including the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), e-Tranzact Ltd and Interswitch, as at February 1, 2019.
According to the list pasted on its website, the CBN said while 58 of them, including Western Union have been approved, two others have received Approvals-in-Principle.
A breakdown of the list shows that operators based in the UK dominated the list, with 26 approved operators, representing 43.33%; followed by 14 Nigerian operators; and another 11 based in the U.S. While Senegal is home to two of the approved operators, Canada, Malta, Australia, Belgium, Scotland and Morocco have one each.
Other prominent Nigerian operators were: Moneygram and Pagatech Ltd, while Western Union has Casablanca, Morocco as address.
