The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will next week hold the 2020 edition of its Budget Seminar in Lagos, with the theme: “Leveraging the 2020 Budget and Finance Act for the Growth of the Nigerian Capital Market.”
The event is expected to attract experts with professional, policy and academic backgrounds, who will examine ways the capital market can contribute more meaningfully to the growth and recovery process the budget and the Act are intended to promote.
A statement by Efe Ebelo, Head, Corporate Communication at the commission on Wednesday said Mrs Zainab Ahmed, Minister for Finance, Budget and National Planning, will be guest of honour at the event, which would be chaired by Dr Suleyman Ndanusa, a former director-general of the SEC.
Keynote at the seminar will be presented by Dr. Afolabi Olowookere, Head Economic Research of the commission, while Chuka Eseka, MD/CEO Vetiva Capital Limited will be the moderator.
Panelists at the event are Seyi Owoturo, CEO United Securities Limited; Laoye Jaiyeola, CEO, Nigerian Economic Summit Group; Emeritus Professor Ademola Oyejide, Department of Economics, University of Ibadan; and Ms. Tumi Sekoni, Managing Director, FMDQ Securities Exchange Limited.
The commission’s Budget Seminar Series has been established as a forum for evaluating the connection between the Nigerian capital market and the annual Federal Government Budget.
