The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), late Thursday night warned depot owners against selling Premium Motor Spirit (or petrol) above the official price of N133.28 per litre, to enable product marketers sell at the official N145.
A statement by Ndu Ughamadu, the corporation’s Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Abuja, assured that there is no fear of scarcity, ahead of the Easter celebration, stressing that there is enough petroleum products stocked in 55 depots across the country.
He also advised motorists and other petroleum products consumers not to engage in panic buying, adding that two vessels of 50m litres of PMS, “would arrive the shores of Nigeria every day from tomorrow (Friday, April 5, 2019).”
Ughamadu listed depots with fully stocked with petroleum products to include 23 in Lagos, seven in Port Harcourt, 11 in Warri, six in Calabar and eight in Kaduna.
The subsisting ex-depot petrol price of N133.28k per litre, , the Group General Manager stated was “consistent with the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency’s (PPPRA) template and should be adhered to.”
He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and volunteer information to the DPR, the industry regulator or to any law enforcement agency, on any station selling petrol beyond the official N145 per litre.
