Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State is expected as a special guest as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) partners the University of Lagos (Unilag) for a two-day conference with the theme “Leveraging the Capital Market for Economic Growth and Development.”
The event, which is part of the commission’s Market Development efforts, which is slated for September 11 and 12 at the Tayo Aderinokun Lecture Theatre, UNILAG, Akoka, Lagos, according to the Acting Director-General SEC, Ms. Mary Uduk, seeks to stimulate the exchange of ideas between the academia and the industry.
Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, Prof Toyin Ogundipe, while Prof Owolabi Kuye, the Dean, Faculty of Management Science, UNILAG, will be host at the event organized also as part of efforts to boost growth and development of the nation’s Capital Market.
Guest speakers at the confab will include Oscar Onyema, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE); Bola Onadele Koko, the MD/CEO of FMDQ Securities Exchange; Bola Ajomale, MD/CEO of NASD Plc; and Adedapo Adekoje, the President of Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) Nigeria.
Others are Akin Akeredolu-Ale, the MD/CEO of Lagos Commodity and Futures Exchange; Mrs. Toyin Sanni, the Group CEO of Emerging Africa Capital; and Taiwo Adeniji, Senior Director, Investments Group, at the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC).
Also expected to address the gathering are Prof Uche Uwaleke, the Commission for Finance, Imo state, Haruna Jalo-Waziri, MD/CEO of Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc; Prof Ayo Olowe, the Conference Co-Chair and Head, Department of Finance, UNILAG, and Edward Okolo, Conference Co-Chair and Director, Market Development SEC, amongst others.
