Accountants Institute Backs Appointment Of Agama As SEC DG, Pledges Support

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, at the weekend applauded the recent appointment of Dr. Emomotimi Agama, as Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

In a congratulatory message to the new DG and signed by the President Sarah Ghosh, the institute said Agama’s achievement is the result of his passion and relentless commitment to the Nigerian economy, as well as the finance and accounting profession on the African continent.

It pledged to support the newly appointed DG in repositioning the capital market to enable it contribute significantly to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

The letter reads, “the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, representing AICPA and CIMA, I would like to extend our sincere congratulations on your appointment as the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

“Your achievement is the result of your passion and relentless commitment to the Nigerian economy, as well as the finance and accounting profession on the African continent.

“We are proud and honoured to see one of our members occupy such an influential position. We look forward to seeing the work you accomplish and supporting you in any way we can along your journey,” the institute added.

Recall that a statement Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), a fortnight ago announced the appointment of Mairiga Aliyu Katuka, as Chairmann of the commission; Emomotimi Agama, Director-General; Frana Chukwuogor, Executive Commissioner (Legal and Enforcement); Bola Ajomale, Executive Commissioner (Operations); Mrs. Samiya Hassan Usman, Executive Commissioner (Corporate Services); Lekan Belo, Non-Executive Commissioner; and Kasimu Garba Kurfi, Non-Executive Commissioner.
