ASR Africa Flags Off Construction Of N250m Office Block At Dan Fodio Varsity, Sokoto

Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa), the philanthropic initiative of Abdul Samad Rabiu, the Chairman of BUA Group, on Tuesday said it has commenced the construction of N250m Abdul Samad Rabiu College of Health Sciences Office Block for Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto State with the groundbreaking ceremony held within the institution’s premises.

The project, a one-storey facility, according to a statement by ASR Africa, will comprise 20 staff offices, the Departmental Head, a Panel Room, staff convenience as well as storage spaces.

This, it continued, became necessary following the expansion of the College facilities comprising five Faculties and a School of Medical Laboratory Sciences with various Departments spread across the faculties and the school.

At the groundbreaking event, Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Suleiman Lawal Bilbis, welcomed the ASR Africa team, expressing profound gratitude and satisfaction with the level of support received so far from the Chairman of ASR Africa, and BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu.

The project, upon completion, he noted, will accommodate its growing academic programmes and students, adding that the choice of the project was in response to this pressing expansion need.

Responding, Dr. Ubon Udoh, the Managing Director of ASR Africa, appreciated the university’s outstanding performance in health and medical sciences, while reiterating the commitment of its Chairman to supporting quality education in the Nigerian tertiary education system.

Udoh urged the institution to focus on the sustainability of the noble project, and provide the necessary support to the construction team for the speedy completion and delivery of the project.

ASR Africa, the statement added, is currently undertaking several health and educational interventions in Sokoto State for N2.5bn.

They are: the construction of the ASR Africa Administrative building for the College of Health Technology, Gwadabawa, Administrative Building and School Clinic for the School of Nursing, Tambuwal; and two units of faculty buildings, a unit of Administrative Building, a unit of hostel and a complete water scheme at the Sokoto State University College of Medical Sciences.
