Buhari Lays N13.08tr 2021 Budget Before NASS Thursday

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday lay the N13.08tr 2021 budget estimate before a Joint session of both chambers of the National Assembly.

In a letter read during Tuesday’s plenary by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, said Buhari will begin his presentation of the 2021 Appropriation Bill at “11:00hrs on Thursday, 8th October, 2020,” according to a statement by Ezrel Tabiowo, Special Assistant (Press) to President of the Senate.

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, had last Wednesday projected a total revenue of N7.89tr, leaving a deficit of N4.48tr, comprising a capital expenditure of 29%, which she said is an improvement over current year’s 24%.

The fiscal deficit component at 3.64%, she continued, is “slightly above what is required by the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 3%.”
