More Nigerians Prefer 9Mobile Network, As 16,809 GSM Subscribers Port In 2017Q3

A new report published by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), on Friday showed that a total of 16,809 GSM subscribers ported out of their networks for perceived better services, while 16,705 opted out in the third quarter of 2017.
The breakdown showed that net porting stood at 405 subscribers, considered low according to a report: Telecoms Sector Data- Q3 2017, by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), using data from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The report noted 9Mobile as the most sought after network, as 11,517 subscribers or 69% of the total for the period ported into the network, while only 2,926 pitched their camps elsewhere, while Airtel coming a distant second with 2,660 subscribers porting in from other networks, which was almost half of the 4,840 it lost.
Globacom suffered the most outward porting of 4,314 subscribers leaving its network, compared to just 704 other porting in; ahead of 4,625 subscribers that ported out of MTN, as 1,928 ported in.
