Founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, on Saturday donated N200m to the Sokoto State University for the construction of an ICT faculty building, supporting its quest to become one of the country’s best in the production of talents in the ICT space.

A statement by the group said the donation was announced during the university’s 2021 convocation ceremony in Sokoto, where Rabiu alongside two others – The Emir of Dutse, Alhaji (Dr.) Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi and the Late Alhaji Umaru Ali Shinkafi were conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degrees for their contributions towards the development of Sokoto State and Nigeria in various fields.

The statement quoted Rabiu as saying  Sokoto State has over the years played a major role in the growth and success of the company,  current hosts three of BUA Cement’s factories, following which it is of critical importance that BUA supports the development of talent in future-proof industries for the state such as ICT, research and education.

Responding, Governor of the state, Aminu Tambuwal, appreciated the BUA Group Chairman, Abdul Samad Rabiu, for the donation, and commended BUA’s contributions towards the socio-economic development of Sokoto, urging others in the same position to emulate him.

Tambuwal assured that the state would continue to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, while enjoining other corporates to come and invest in the state.

According to him, BUA had built an endearing partnership with the people and government of the state, especially in the area of creating employment opportunities and projects that impact on the people, which the latest donation is one of.
