SEC Issues Final Reminder For Registration Of Capital Market Operators

Nigeria’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), on Friday, issued a second and final reminder to all capital market operators in the country, including experts/professionals whose companies and firms are yet to comply with an earlier directive regarding registration to do so on or before September 30, 2017
A statement by the commission restated that the directive requiring that they register would enable provision of updated information on their Companies/Firms was issued sequel to the powers conferred on it by the Investments and Securities Act (ISA) 2007.
SEC recalled that it had initially set December 2016 and February 2017 respectively as deadline for the registration, but extended it to May 2017.
While directing inquiries to its Abuja head office, or any of the regional offices in Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Kano, the SEC management “strongly advised” all capital market operators, “including capital market experts/professionals …to comply with this directive on or before September 30, 2017.”
