Seplat Energy Says Still Searching For 3 Crew Members of Ill-fated Rig

The management of Seplat Energy Plc said on Thursday that the search for three crew members of the ill-fated Majestic rig, who have remained unaccounted for.
A statement by the company assured that divers and other emergency services were on-site, and as of 9 am.
The company, however, restated that contrary to some media reports, the rig which was in transit to its next drill location at Ovhor, is owned by Depthwize Nigeria Limited and not Seplat. Although, it noted, Seplat is the operator of OMLs 4, 38 & 41 on behalf of the NNPCEPL/SEPLAT Joint Venture.
Of the other 92 crew members, the statement added, the single recorded fatality was a British national, while 10 others admitted to hospital and stayed overnight have all now been discharged from hospital, and that it continues to support Depthwize with the emergency response and rescue efforts, with the priority being the search and rescue of the three missing crew members.
The families of the deceased and the 3 missing crew members have been informed by Depthwize, it said, just as the authorities have since been notified of the incident and continues to comply with all regulatory requirements.
