Transcorp Hotels Plc, the hospitality subsidiary of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc, on Saturday, January 19, 2019, organized farewell/welcome dinner in honour of its immediate past Managing Director/CEO, Valentine Ozigbo and Mrs. Owen Omogiafo, his replacement in Abuja.
Ozigbo has been elevated to the role of the President/CEO of Transcorp Plc, replacing Adim Jibunoh who retired with effect from January 1, 2019, in line with an October 16, 2018 notice to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) by Helen Iwuchukwu, Transcorp Group’s Company Secretary.
Speaking at the event, an appreciative Ozigbo linked his success as the MD/CEO of Transcorp Hotels Plc the tutelage of the Chairman of Transcorp Plc, Tony Elumelu.
He stressed that the group could not have appointed a better person to succeed him that Omogiafo, expressing confidence “that she will do better, I have seen her strong execution skills and I can attest that she will do even better than me.”
Also commenting on the changes, Chairman of Transcorp Hotels Plc, Emmanuel Nnorom appreciated Ozigbo for maintaining and deploying high-level of corporate governance and for driving positive transformation in Transcorp Hilton Abuja and Transcorp Hotels Calabar.
He admonished him to carry on the good works, applauding the affinity of his successor with the vision and mandate of the Transcorp Plc group, expressing confidence in her ability to take the company to enviable heights.
For Omogiafo, she thanked Ozigbo and the Hilton management team for leaving behind a solid foundation for her to build on, pledging to work with her team to fulfill the company’s “responsibilities to all its key stakeholders.”
The Black-tie event held at the Congress Hall of the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Abuja was also used as an opportunity to bid farewell/welcome the outgoing and incoming General Managers of Transcorp Hilton Abuja, Etienne Gailliez and Kevin Brett.
Notable personalities at the event included Professor Charles Soludo, , under whose watch as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Transcorp was envisioned and birthed; Jan Van Der Putten, Vice President Operations, Africa and Indian Ocean, Hilton Worldwide, Professor Osita and Dr. Ogugua Ogbu, among others.
