UBA sells at N8.40, As Zenith Bank Goes For N20

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) hit a new intraday high on Friday, touching 31,317.51 basis points at 1.30pm, representing 3.31% jump over the day’s opening level.
This was an improvement over the 2016 high of 31,073.30 points.
Leading the gainers’ table were Nestle Nigeria, which closed N25.05 up at N900.06; followed by Dangote Cement’s N9.18 per share gain which took it to N192.93; while 7-Up Bottling Company notched N4.28 to N89.88; ahead of brewery giants- Guinness and Nigerian Breweries’ N3.54 to close at N74.54 and N3.15 to N160.05 per unit respectively.
The decliners’ side was led by petroleum products marketing stocks- Total Nigeria, which lost N11.90 to close at N263.10; Mobil Oil, N5.90 per share to N284.10; while MRS Nigeria shed N1.95 at N37.08. Construction giant shed N1.84 to N36.03; while Conoil closed N176 down at N33.83 each.
The most significant trades were seen in financial services and banking stocks, led by FBN Holdings, which attained N6.42, exchanging 107.64m; Diamond Bank’s 99.244m had changed hands at N1.10; UBA’s 77.604m shares were selling at N8.40; Zenith Bank had hit N20 with N44.144m; ahead of FCMB’s 43.572m at N1.27 each.
