The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), said there was fire minor fire at its Jos, Plateau State Branch, Tuesday, at 9.15 a.m., and that it was put out using fire extinguishers even before the arrival of men of the fire service.
Explaining the sequence of events, Isaac Okorafor, Director, Corporate Communications of the bank said when the fire alarm at the branch was triggered, the skeletal staff on essential duty were promptly evacuated from the building to the muster point, in line with the fire drill and protocol.
The fire, he continued, was ut out by the CBN’s “security unit, relying on information from the Fire Alarm Dashboard, traced the fire to an air conditioner installed in the inverter room on the second floor of the building.
“They swiftly put out the fire with extinguishers and hydrants installed in the building,” following which the affected room was cordoned off for further investigation, after which normal work resumed at the branch.
Okorafor assured that “no damage was done to any records of the bank.”
