Lagos To Partner Japan On Ikoyi-Lekki Rail Line

In a bid to further the development and keep pace with its fast growing population, the Lagos State Government, on Tuesday announced plans to introduce rail transportation in the highbrow Ikoyi-Lekki axis.
A statement quoted Governor Akinwunmi Ambode as saying his administration has initiated many interventions all over the State to shorten road travel time, following which it is “in talks with the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JICA) to introduce rail transportation in the Ikoyi-Lekki corridor.”
This, he continued, is besides engaging in massive road construction and opening-up of rural communities in the state, while continuously clearing drainages, upgrading and construction of Primary Health Care Centers (PHCs) across the state.
“Our objective is to make every community in Lags economically liveable and stem rural-urban flight,” he added.
