The board of aviation services providers- Medview Airline Plc, on Thursday informed the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) that it has approved a planned investment by AvMax, a Calgary, Canadian-based firm.
This Medview said, would enable it acquire more fleets like the B777-200ER.
According to a statement by Abdullahi Adam Abdullahi & Co, its company secretary, this was part of resolutions at its board meeting held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
The directors also ratified and adopted the unaudited management account for the first quarter ended March 31, 2018, in addition to approving plans to lease purchase two CRJ-900 Bombardier Aircrafts for local and regional routes.
These are in addition to the company’s diversification into Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of aircrafts (MRO), by acquiring a landed property at Murtala Muhammed International Airport to serve as Med-View’s Hangar.
Part of the plan is an Approved Training Organisation (A.T.O) facility to train engineers, cabin crew and pilot ground school.
The company promised to inform the exchange and general public adequately “as AvMax’s interest to invest in Medview Plc progresses.”
Avmax Group Incorporated is an aviation support company based in Calgary, Canada, which according to Bloomberg, offers “aircraft leasing; workforce air transportation solutions; and repair services for wheels and brakes, hydraulics, starter generators, pneumatics, leading edges, and batteries components. The company was established in 1976 as Western Avionics. It transformed to Avmax Group in 1996 through the creation of the Transport Canada, EASA, JAA and FAA approved Heavy Maintenance Centre (HMC), which provides full major repair and overhaul service capabilities for regional aircrafts and operators.
In 2011, it entered the African region with the founding of Avmax Spares East Africa to provide spares support to Avmax Leasing customers and other regional aircraft operators.
The following year, it added Avmax Chad airlines, which flew its first commercial flight on March 1, 2012, while its R1 Airlines, based in Calgary, Alberta has proven experience flying to densely populated areas, remote locations and anything in between.
