More Donations Pour In, As CACOVID Relief Fund Now N21.5bn

Donations from individuals and corporate bodies in Nigeria to the Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) Relief Fund domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) rose to N21.5bn.
An update on behalf of the coalition by the Director, corporate communications, Central Bank of Nigeria, Isaac Okorafor, on Monday, April 6, 2020, said the increase followed redemption of N1.0bn pledges made by Otunba Mike Adenuga.
Also on the list of donors to the relief fund, which now stands at 50, from an initial 37, the statement said, are the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Raj Gupta of African Steel Mills Nigeria Limited, as well as Modupe and Folorunsho Alakija of Famfa Oil Limited, each of who donated N1.0bn.
Other on the list of donors, the CBN said, include former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; Rahul Savarah, Tolaram Africa Enterprises Ltd., Ekeoma Eme Ekeoma, Jennifer Ramatu Etuh Foundation, ADG International Resources Ltd., and Proshare Nigeria Limited.
The statement reiterated the coalition’s appreciation to the list of individuals and corporate bodies for their contributions to the Relief Fund advocated by the CBN and the private sector,
Okorafor, while urging more Nigerians and corporate bodies to contribute to the fund, charged Nigerians to do their part in checking any further spread of the virus in Nigeria.
