Tijjani Borodo, 61, Retires From FBN Group After 29 Years

FBN Plc, the holding company of First Bank of Nigeria Group, on Thursday, announced the retirement of perhaps one of its longest serving executives and Company Secretary, Alhaji Tijjani Mohammed Borodo.
Borodo, a 1980 law graduate from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria,joined First Bank of Nigeria Plc in 1988, and was company secretary under many chairmen and chief executives, is being replaced by Seye Kosoko.
The retiring corporate secretary also holds a Masters Degree in Law from the University of Essex, United Kingdom (1985).
Borodo, who was born on October 17, 1956 in Bukuru, Plateau State, joined First Bank of Nigeria Plc in October 1988 as Regional Legal Manager, Kano, from where he was transferred in May 1991 to Lagos as the Assistant Company Secretary.
In January 1994, he became the Deputy Company Secretary and acting Company Secretary three months later, getting his first baptism during the bank’s 25th Annual General Meeting.
He became the substantive Company Secretary in June 8, 1999 a position he held till September 2012 when he was made the pioneer Company Secretary of FBN Holdings Plc.
The group also announced the confirmation of Tolulope Oluwole as Head, Investor Relations Department after 15 months in acting capacity, “in line with FBNH’s succession plan.”
Ekpe Ukpabio was also named executive director of the group’s insurance subsidiary- FBN Insurance Limited, subject to regulatory approvals.
