Zenith Bank Appoints Oroh, Abubakar Directors

The board of Zenith Bank Plc, on Friday, announced the appointment of Henry Oroh and Dr. Al-Mujtaba Abubakar as executive and independent non-executive directors respectively with effect from September 1, 2019, following the approval of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
A statement by the company secretary Michael Osilama to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) said Oroh, a lawyer and chartered accountant, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Benin, Edo State, MBA from the Lagos State University and an LLB from the University of London.
A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Nigeria (CIBN), Oroh started his banking career in 1992 at Citibank, where he was for seven years traversing Operations, Treasury and Marketing.
He joined Zenith Bank in February 1999 and has worked in Operations, IT, Treasury, Marketing, Manufacturing, Food and Beverages, Pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas, Public Sector, Consumer as well as Corporate Banking and Business Development.
Oroh was seconded to Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, first as Executive Director and later Managing Director/Chief Executive in February 2016.
Dr. Abubakar, managing director of Apt Pension Funds Managers Limited, a chartered accountant and fellow of the ICAN, is a graduate of Leeds Polytechnic, UK.
With experience in the financial services industry, audit and consulting, he was at the firm of Akintola Williams Deloitte from January 2000 to November 2008 and rose to the position of Partner and board member of the West Africa sub-region.
Recall that the bank recently had a change of baton, with Ebenezer Onyeagwu replacing Peter Amangbo as chief executive on July 1, necessitating the latest elevations.
