NSE Council Boss Visits Golden Guinea Breweries, Woos Abia, Imo Govts

President of the National Council of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Otunba Abimbola Ogunbanjo, on Monday, September 28, 2020, took a factory tour of Golden Guinea Breweries Plc (GGB), as part of the bourse’s relationship building and retention initiatives.

Ogunbajo, who was accompanied by the Divisional Head, NSE, Listings Business, Olumide Bolumole, also paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, and his Imo State counterpart, Senator Hope Uzodinma between Monday and Tuesday.

Speaking during the visit, he commended “the board and management of Golden Guinea Breweries Plc for their efforts in reviving the business after 17 years of inactivity.”

The NSE, he assured, is “dedicated to helping issuers derive optimal value from their interaction with the market. As such, we have identified various opportunities for us to provide assistance in terms of enhanced regulatory support, capacity building, and engagement sessions.”

The factory visit, he stressed, “is just a step in our commitment to working with Golden Guinea Breweries and its principals to build the company to even more impressive heights.”

At the State Houses, the president applauded the governors for their efforts at promoting socioeconomic development and improving the lives of citizens in the states, commending Governor Ikpeazu specifically for his administration’s contributions to the significant progress recorded by the company.

He further highlighted the opportunities at the NSE for different companies at various stages to be listed, such as the NSE Growth Board that “provides a viable platform for the large number of Small and Medium Enterprises to raise right-sized capital to finance their business objectives.

“Furthermore, there are opportunities for the listing of infrastructure bonds and privatization of state-owned enterprises to improve performance & transparency, enhance visibility and improve direct and indirect revenues for the state Governments.”

The Exchange, he continued, provides a platform for issuers and investors to meet their investment objectives even in these unprecedented times, assuring that the capital market ecosystem is eager to see responses from Abia and Imo State Governments in this regard in the near future.
